Mishap

I was gone to my Hearts at Mom conference all weekend. It was awesome! I went with 3 other moms from my church and had a great time.
On Sat. Dave called me to say he was taking our baby to the hospital! I was so surprised because even with four kids, we have never made an ER trip. Leah had climbed on a kitchen chair and fell backwards and cut her chin:( It was very hard for me to not be with her but Dave said she did great getting her 2 stitches and hardly cried. Such a good baby.

Silence!
Yesterday I learned the value of teaching a child to read. We rode all the way to tumbling in complete silence! Not a peep. Not a whine or a begging for songs, not a complaint. Lexi read her Magic Treehouse book the whole way and it was glorious!

Uncorrection
Last night after supper.
Trey: Mom may I please be inscused?
Lexi: (In her most superior voice) It's not inscused, Trey, it's unscused!

The Right Motivation
Dave was gone for the weekend. Playing cards with my family (brothers-in-law and father). I was telling someone this and they thought it was great that he felt comfortable enough with my family to do this without me. I never really thought about it before but I agree, it's cool. Anyway, sometimes when dad is gone all rules disappear. Like that pesky little dieting rule Dave and I have right now. Zach decided we should go to DQ since he got all A's this past midterm. Sure, I say! However, when the time came to pack up and go, I looked around the kitchen, saw the complete chaos, and knew it would take me a good while to clean up by myself. So, good mother though I am, I resorted to bribery. Yes, I admit it. "No one is going to Dairy Queen until this place is cleaned up!" They all pitched in at that let me tell you. Trey washed the table, then he washed all the chairs! Alexis swept the floor, after she unpacked the dish washer. Zach loaded the dirty dishes, which really grosses him out. Like I said, motivation. The whole time I tried to get the baby looking presentable enough to go out in public while keeping her from eating the food being swept up off the floor. We actually had a good time at DQ. Everyone enjoyed the outing and then they were ready for bed!
