Leah has been amazing me lately. I love this stage when they are little and fun and changing every day. A couple weeks ago, I started making a list of all the words she was saying. She's got a couple little friends who seem to be saying all sorts of stuff and I was worried about her (okay, not worried- I knew she was fine). But I was wondering why she wasn't saying hardly anything. So I made a list. It turns out she knew 19 words! What a difference it makes to see it in print. Well that was 2 weeks ago. Now she says so many words, there's no use for a list anymore. I just know she understood a lot more than she was saying and she had to make the choice to let all those words come out. It's really fun.
She's been doing that scary thing at Sunday School. She doesn't like me to drop her off and cries a little each time until I'm gone. Then she turns it off like a water spout. Well today, I dropped her off at a friend's house here in Walcott because I taught preschool this morning. She had never been to this house before and the lady watches kids but none were there yet. I expected tears and clingyness. She did hold on to me for a bit and gave me quite a fierce hug, but when the babysitter said "you want to go find the toys?" she flew from my arms into hers and never looked back. I was shocked, you think you have them figured out. When I came back I heard how happy she had been and how much fun they had. And then I got an even bigger shock. She didn't want to go home with me. She cried as a picked her up and walked to the car. Ridiculous, I say! Such a big girl.
