This was very difficult to do. There was a rope tied from one side of the river to the other. We had to pull ourselves straight across using our upper body strength (of which I have none, of course). I did it but it took me forever. Dave shimmied straight across, of course. He didn't even want help getting up the bank. I had to be dragged. Oh well. As I reminded Dave, he didn't marry me for my athletic ability:)
We also did rappeling that day. I was super scared. The hard part is that first step over the edge of the cliff...backwards. The important part is learning to trust your equipment and realizing that it really will hold you-you won't fall. I had a fun time rappeling. There was a girl in our cabin who got too far below her feet and flipped over head first. She bonked her head and got some scrapes and got so freaked out she wouldn't do any more ropes work. Poor thing.
